The hiking trails / Arche de la Nature

Starting point of the hiking trails

From the Roman bridge, you can take various trails to discover the town and its surroundings.

Three trails leave from the car-park near the Roman bridge and have been marked by the Chemins en Yvré hiking association.

  • The blue trail « la butte d’Auvours » 8 kms long (about 5 miles) will lead you to the top of the Auvours hill, east of Y.

  • The red trail « la Mare Ronde » 12 kms long (8 miles) will lead you to the Sargé plateau and allow you to explore the north-west part of Y.
A mauve variation reduces the distance to 9kms (6 miles).

  • The green trail « la Perche » will allow you to discover the Huisne valley and the edge of the Sargé plateau.

An urban trail from 6 to 8 kms long following historical landmarks.

Information panels are translated into English to help welcome our visitors from afar and to help tell the story of our little town.

Some beautiful views punctuate this route.

You can learn more about these trails in brochures available at the town hall.

Good to know :

The local hiking association « Les Chemins en Yvré » regularly organises outings on the trails through town and surrounding areas; for more information, visit : cheminsenyvre.over-blog.fr/

L’Arche de la Nature

This park was created by Mr Jean-Claude Boulard, president of the Urban Community of Le Mans and covers about 1,110 acres.

A large part of this magnificent space is devoted to the forest and is situated in the town limits of Yvré l ‘Evêque, notably the Prairie farm, one of the highlights of the park as well as the Water Plant, the flora and fauna reservation and the trail where visitors can admire lots of rare species of trees and the river Huisne.
